Just a heads up: our Sunday service on 7/17 will not be held at The Meeting Place in Chicago.

Rather we will be having Sunday service in Streator, IL, at 10:45 AM in conjunction with the Summer Retreat.

If you are unable to make the first part of the retreat, you can at least make plans to drive down there for church service. Just don’t show up at The Meeting Place that Sunday.

If you still haven’t registered for the retreat, you still can. Just email Ellan at koinonia.

Hey friends,

Let’s help welcome home the Smith boys by supporting them through yummy tasting food 🙂 If you can, please sign up via their Care Calendar at:

Hey IBC,

Jack & Cheryl are moving to San Diego after their wedding and this will be their last official Sunday with us L. We’d like to invite you to celebrate their send off with a potluck after church this coming Sunday (6/26). Please bring a dish to share and we will provide cake and punch. We’ll also have a scrapbook for you to sign so please come ready with a verse or encouraging message to send them off with! Hope to see you there!

Hey friends,

For those of you planning on going to the retreat July 15-17th, the total suggested donation is 85$ per person, but please do not let this hinder you from coming! We want you there!

For families, suggested donations for kids are as follows:

– Children under 2 y/o are free

– 1st child over 2 y/o is full price, 85$

– 2nd child over 2 y/o is half price, 42.50$

– 3rd child over 2 y/o is free

Please bring money or check (payable to IBC) by Sunday, July 3rd to either Andrew or Ellan Shelton.

And it’s not too late to still sign up! Send email to koinonia@immanuel-baptist.net.

Homosexuality, Gender Identity, and the Gospel. Are you coming?

Nathan and Andrea’s at noon.

Rachel M. has a friend from Kansas that has a cousin interning in Chicago this summer. Apparently he is looking for a short-term sublease. Anybody know of someone looking for someone to sublease to for the summer?

Our mission as a church is to be a multiplying community that enjoys and proclaims the Good News of Christ in the great city of Chicago.

We recognize that the governor on the engine of multiplication is leadership development. That’s why we’ve been working on a careful and intentional plan to raise up more leaders across the board: men, women, Small Group leaders, Worship Team leaders, deacons, and elders.

One aspect of that is what we’re calling the Immanuel Pastoral Apprenticeship Program (IPAP). We piloted it this spring with great success and have expanded it to a year-long program that we hope to launch this fall. We’re looking for people from within the church but are also open to those from without who God may call to come and join us. For more information, check out HERE. Apply if you are interested. And also feel free to spread the word to others you know who may be a good fit.

Table Talk is a chance for people to come over to Nathandrea’s and eat while discussing some theological topic. It happens on the 2nd Saturday of every month at noon. Anybody can come, anytime!

Here’s a preview of the topics being served up this summer:

June 11th – Homosexuality, Gender Identity, and the Gospel

July 9th – Cancelled

August 13 – Counseling: What Hath Jung to do with Jesus?

Hope to see you there!

Many of you know long-time IBCers Peter & Lydia. They have been serving overseas in Thailand for the past couple years and are back for a brief stint to visit Peter’s ailing father.

Immanuel will be picking them up officially as church-sponsored International Missionaries. We want you to get to know their ministry better so we can best support them. Part of what they do is work with CREATE, an organization that produces movies, art, websites, and photography to mobilize workers, prayer, finances, and help ministries communicate the gospel to the unreached.

The leaders of CREATE will actually be joining us this Sunday and will share briefly at the end of the service. For anyone interested in finding out more about their work, please plan to stick around after the service for 30 minutes to hear more. It’s neat stuff!

Hey everyone,

Just a reminder to please RSVP to Ellan at ellan.shelton if you haven’t already for our annual church retreat (July 15-17th) this year. Please reply with a yes, no or maybe.

Thanks!

Ellan Shelton
