Just a reminder that after the service this Sunday there will be free lunch and a Mission Class that goes over the meaning of church membership and the mission, vision, and values of Immanuel.

This is primarily for those who have not yet joined our church, but even if you’ve already become a member you can come too! Maybe you feel like you could use a reminder and fresh infusion of purpose and energy for the calling God has given you to be part of a multiplying community that enjoys and proclaims the Good News of Christ in the great city of Chicago. Vision leaks and if you feel like you’re starting to run empty on enthusiasm for what it means to be a Christian in this context, come join us this Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and be refreshed.

RSVP to info if you haven’t already and plan to come.

If you drive to The Meeting Place and park along Roosevelt we just want to remind you to not leave anything valuable visible. We have had several cars broken into and even recently during a Sunday morning service. Be smart.

For all those who aren’t yet members and want to find out what it means to really be a part of this church, go through Joining the Mission and stay after church on Sunday, November 4, for a free lunch and Mission Class.

RSVP to info if you plan to come.

The Wagler’s annual Pumpkin party is this weekend, and you are invited! Bring a pumpkin to carve and feel free to wear a costume! Adults and Kids are welcome!

There will be lots of pumpkin food and fun!

Saturday Oct 27th, 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Wagler’s backyard.

Come when you can, leave when you have to…

The third Sunday of every month after our Lord’s Day gathering people are invited to go out together for lunch and have a theological discussion around some important topic. That would be this Sunday. And the timely topic is ‘Politics’. How should Christians think about political systems in general and how should we participate in our political process? In case you didn’t know, there is an election coming up. Is there a distinctively Christian way to approach it? As Christians, we will discourse civilly and charitably, but also honestly. Come if you have strong opinions or even if you don’t. Table Talk is the place where you can actually talk about the two taboo topics – religion and politics! This time we will be going out to eat at Yummy Thai.

Also, don’t forget that this Saturday (10/20) at 9:00 AM is the Clean & Green and at 11:00 AM is the Joint Outreach.

Alderman Fioretti’s office has asked us to again host a neighborhood Clean & Green. They supply the trash bags and tools. We help supply people, together with other volunteers from the neighborhood, to go out and clean up our area.

Please consider coming out this Saturday to beautify our community and build relationships with people who live here! It’s at 9:00 AM at The Meeting Place this Saturday.

We will be going out to clean the area where many of the people who come to our Joint Outreaches hang out. And we will be having our regular Joint Outreach following this at 11:00 AM.

Cyndi Myers is working on putting together a small Koinonia Team to help plan and coordinate Immanuel social events. These events include things such as potlucks, baby and wedding showers, holiday parties, the Summer Retreat, and overall catalyzing greater missional community at Immanuel! She’s hoping to get a team put together by the end of October.

If you are interested in being a part of this, please contact Cyndi at cyndi.j.myers or talk to her in person at church!

NO SERVICE THIS MORNING (10/7)!! Join us tonight at 6:00 PM at ArmitageBaptistChurch to pray for church planting in the city.

Some moms are getting together to do a meal swap and we’d love for anyone to join us. A meal swap basically gives you several ready-to-eat freezer meals for less cooking time.

If you’re interested, please email Lindsey at lindsey.avink by Monday for the details.

Due to the Chicago Marathon this Sunday we are not having our normal Sunday Morning Service.

Instead we are meeting with Church of the Beloved at 4:00 PM at The Meeting Place on Saturday and having a Vision and Prayer Night with other churches in our denomination at 6:00 PM at Armitage Baptist Church (2451 N. Kedzie) on Sunday.
