Tomorrow is the first Saturday of December! As usual, we’ll be joining with the Near West Vineyard and Church of the Beloved to serve up food, conversation, and the gospel to our neighbors.
If you’ve never come before, come check it out! 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at The Meeting Place.
It’s time to pull out your tackiest Christmas sweater and join the IBC family for some Christmas fun! On Wednesday, December 12th, at 7:00 PM we will celebrate Christmas together at The Meeting Place. A few fun things to note:
1. We will be having a Tacky Christmas Sweater contest – with a prize for the winner! So deck yourself out!
2. Christmas sweets will be involved! If you would like to bring a Christmas dessert to share, please do! Sugar cookies will be provided.
3. Get your voices tuned, as we will enjoy singing some classic Christmas carols!
4. Games and activities for kids and adults alike!
Looking forward to seeing everyone there! If you have any questions, please contact Cyndi Myers at cyndi.j.myers.
Every year during December we collect a special offering that goes directly to the International Mission Board (IMB) called the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
IMB is the world’s largest mission force with nearly 5,000 missionaries representing our denomination and it includes one of our very own members. The Lottie Moon offering accounts for over half of IMB’s funding and this year’s goal is $175 million.
This Christmas let us not forget the world’s greatest needs:
11,341 number of people groups in the world
6,422 people groups in which evangelical Christians are less than 2% of the population*
3,142 unreached people groups not engaged by anyone
* Numbers do not include the U.S. or Canada, where 572 people groups are unreached.
Please pray about giving this year. You can make your check out to ImmanuelBaptistChurch with ‘Lottie Moon’ in the memo line and drop it in the offering any Sunday before Christmas.
Contact internationalmissions with any questions.
If anyone wants to run a 5K (3.1 miles) on Friday after Thanksgiving, you should join the Avinks at the Lawndale Christian Fitness Center at 9:00 AM. We’ll run a 5K together on the treadmills and then get some coffee or breakfast at their beautiful new cafe! Let Mike or Lindsey know if you’re coming or have any questions.
This Sunday is the third Sunday of the month and you know what that means… Table Talk!
Table Talks are venues for robust, open theological discussions. Come to listen and learn and offer your own insight.
This time the topic is “The Church and the Gay Community.” What does the Bible say about being gay? How does the gospel create a safe environment in our church for those among us who deal with being gay? How can we grow in bringing the gospel into the LGBTQ community?
This time we will stick around The Meeting Place after the service and there will be Sloppy Joes provided. RSVP if you can.
On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays we share a meal and conversation with our neighbors that hang out in the park behind The Meeting Place. As the weather has been cooling off we’ve been opening our doors and inviting them it. Come on out this Saturday (11/17) from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
If you’re interested in Worship Leading, you’re invited to attend a meeting hosted by Adam this Saturday night. We’ll be looking at how the gospel can shape the flow of our Sunday services. To respond to the invitation, please click this link: http://new.evite.com/#view_invite:eid=020CAAQZXGL24EH2WEPCFT46XZWHHQ
All current worship leaders are encouraged to attend. But feel free to come if you’re not. Even if you just want to learn about this stuff, you’re invited and welcome to join us.
With Christmas just around the corner, it is a great time for Immanuel to bless children and young single mothers from Lydia Home! Over the next month (November 11th – December 9th), we will be collecting Christmas gifts for 6 children and 2 single mothers associated with Lydia Home. Needs and wishes range from basic clothing essentials to toys. Specific requests can be seen at The Meeting Place. The smallest donation can make a big difference, so please give as much or little as you feel appropriate. All items can be given to Cyndi by December 9th.

Merry CHRISTmas Season!
This Wednesday is the first Wednesday of the month.

Let us come unburden our souls before the Lord together.
We’re having a baby shower for Andy and Raechelle, and all the ladies at IBC are invited! It’s happening Saturday, December 1st, at 7:30 PM at the Carters’ house. An Evite has gone out, so if you would like to come and did not receive an Evite, please email Lindsey.
