There’s going to be a great opportunity for anyone from our church to come hear a top-notch professor speaking on “The Church: It’s Marks, Purpose, and Nature.”
Dr. Owen Strachan will be leading a 2 hour seminar with Q & A on September 14th at 6:00 PM at The Meeting Place after Church of the Beloved’s service.
Hi IBC family!
As most of you know by now, Anne-Marie is skipping both town and country in late November, and that means that Holly is looking for a new roommate as early as December 1st!
Could you all please keep your ears open if you hear of a (relatively) clean, quiet, Christian woman looking for a place? We live near Arthington & Western, basement unit. It’s a very newly remodeled, two-bedroom, spacious, in-unit washer/dryer, nice backyard, plenty of parking, 8 minute walk to Western blue line, family-oriented neighborhood, and very attentive and personable landlords 🙂 Rent is $450.
If you have a lead, please contact Holly.
Due to Festa Italiana our Fall Kick Off picnic tomorrow will be held at The Meeting Place right after the service instead of Arrigo Park.
Everyone stick around for hot dogs off the grill and other food!!
West Loop Church will be using The Meeting Place on Friday, August 30th, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM to host an Open Mic Night.
It will be open for anyone to play/perform. Music does not have to be Christian. It can be any type of music that you enjoy. If you want to perform, just email your name and the song to Sarah at sarichkapeace. Instruments and equipment will be provided. Invite your friends.
This Sunday (8/25), marks the beginning of our Fall Kick-Off!
After the Service we’ll be having a Picnic Potluck in Arrigo Park.
Bring a food item to share, as well as any yard games, lawn chairs, picnic blankets, etc…
Hot dogs and drinks provided.

This Sunday is the third Sunday of August! And that means Table Talktime.
This month’s topic is:
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Here’s a video on the topic to help get the conversation started:http://youtu.be/-yB__3_Fhq0
Right after the regular Sunday service. Food is provided. RSVP to Phil Ennis so we’ll be sure to have enough.
Hey brothers and sisters!
At the Summer Retreat I shared about hoping to do a Backyard Bible Club… and it’s happening! August 19-23 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in our backyard. If anyone is interested in helping, here are some specific needs:
1. Prayer – Please pray that kids will come and hear the gospel and tell their parents and believe. That we connect with neighbors long term. That God keeps the kids safe each day. That we would be faithful and obedient and trust Christ to gather his bride in Lawndale.
2. Snacks – Nothing fancy! Just appealing. On Friday, we’re going to have a simple picnic dinner and invite families. If you’d like to contribute a snack one day or something for dinner on Friday, just let me know.
3. Helpers – If you want to help out by being physically present, we’ll start at 3:30 PM and be done at 6:00 PM. Helpers will help lead games, activities, and singing. If there are enough kids, we’ll split up into little groups after the Bible lesson to talk about it and pray.
4. New or gently Used Kids’ Bibles – I would love to give each kid a Bible.
If you’re interested in any of this, just let me (Lindsey) know. Thanks!
Cassie puts together the Master Schedule of volunteers for our Sunday services and is starting to plan for the fall.
We’re a simple church, but we still need people to serve in many areas:
Set-Up Crew
Welcoming Team
Worship Teams
Scripture Readers
Sunday School Teachers
Kids’ Corner Workers
Tear Down Crew
If you’re interested in helping out in any of these areas, let Cassie know at admin
The first Wednesday of every month is All-Church Prayer Meeting. It’s from 6:45 to 8:00 PM at The Meeting Place.
Tomorrow be sure to wear walking shoes and bring strollers because for part of the time we’ll be prayer-walking our neighborhood.
A Moody student who started coming to Immanuel last year has been home over the summer working and hopes to come back this Fall. However, his finances are extremely tight and he currently can’t afford to come back if he has to pay for the Moody housing. He has asked if anyone in the church has a spare room he could rent for cheap.
If you have a room or know of someone who does, contact Nathan (ncarter) for more info.
The Moody deadline for off-campus housing is this Tuesday!
