Hey Immanuel,

Please join us at Pray Chicago! Here is an excerpt from an email explaining this city wide event:

“As you know this summer the city has faced a continuing epidemic of violence, but at this critical time the body of Christ is coming together!

Over the summer an opportunity has developed for a city wide prayer event on September 5th with PrayChicago! We want to invite you to join us and followers of Jesus from across the city as we gather in unity at Daley Plaza from 11:30am – 1:00pm. We will pray that the Gospel will go out in power and bring the peace of Christ to every corner of Chicago. Following the noon hour event we will put feet to our prayers. We are calling on churches, community groups and individuals to step out on neighborhood streets from 6:30 till 7:30pm to pray, worship and share the good news.

Roy Patterson from WBMI will be leading the prayer event in Daley Plaza. Joining us on the platform at noon will be Corey Brooks, Noel Castellanos, Donnita Travis, Mark Jobe, Erwin Lutzer, Arloa Sutter, James Ford, Dan Meyer, Jackson Crum, Andrew Lee, Paul Nyquist and others.”

Please join us at Daley Plaza from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on September 5th for this prayer event. We will also have a prayer, worship and evangelism time from 6:30 to 7:30 PM that evening starting at The Meeting Place!

ASSURANCE OF PARDON –

“Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 5:18).

PRELUDE – “Come Holy Spirit” by Israel Houghton

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP –

“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves” (Eph. 1:2-6).

Song –

Come Praise and Glorify” by Bob Kauflin and Tim Chester

CONFESSION OF SIN –

Most merciful God,

we confess that we have sinned against You

in thought, word, and deed,

by what we have done,

and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved You with our whole heart;

we have not love our neighbors as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of Your Son Jesus Christ,

have mercy on us and forgive us;

that we may delight in Your will,

and walk in Your ways,

to the glory of Your Name. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON –

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding…. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory” (Eph. 1:7-8, 13b-14)
