PRELUDE – “Brethren, We Have Met to Worship” by Bart Millard
WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 100:1-3a
The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament
were given by inspiration of God,
and are the only sufficient, certain and authoritative rule
of all saving knowledge, faith and obedience.
– The Abstract of Principles (1858)
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.

CONFESSION OF SIN – Adapted from John Knox’s Liturgy of 1560
CONGREGATION:
Almighty God, we are unworthy to come into your presence, because of our many sins.
LEADER:
We do not deserve any grace or mercy from you, if you dealt with us as we deserve.
CONGREGATION:
We have sinned against you, O Lord, and we have offended you.
LEADER:
And yet, O Lord, as we acknowledge our sins and offenses,
so also do we acknowledge you to be a merciful God,
a loving and favorable Father,
to all who turn to you.
CONGREGATION:
And so we humbly ask you, for the sake of Christ your son,
to show mercy to us, and forgive us all our offenses.
LEADER:
Forgive the sins of our youth, and the sins of our old age.
CONGREGATION:
By your Spirit, O God, take possession of our hearts,
LEADER:
so that, not only the actions of our life,
but also the words of our mouths,
and the smallest thought of our minds,
may be guided and governed by you.
CONGREGATION:
Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit,
be all honor and glory,
now and forever.
Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Psalm 18:30-31
As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.
For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God?
