PRELUDE – “High Enough” by The Gray Havens

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Isaiah 6:1-4

In the year that King Uzziah died

I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up;

and the train of his robe filled the temple.

Above him stood the seraphim.

Each had six wings: with two he covered his face,

and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

And one called to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;

the whole earth is full of his glory!”

And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called,

and the house was filled with smoke.

Song –

Behold, Our God” by Jonathan, Meghan, and Ryan Baird and Mark Altrogge

CONFESSION OF SIN – Psalm 24:3-4

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?

And who shall stand in his holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not lift up his soul to what is false

and does not swear deceitfully.

Song –

Give us Clean Hands” by Charlie Hall

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Romans 8:1, 1 John 1:9, Ephesians 2:6, Hebrews 10:22

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

If we confess our sins,

he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God raised us up with Christ

and seated us with him in the heavenly places

in Christ Jesus.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,

with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience.

POSTLUDE – “At Last, the King” by The Gray Havens

Secret Church is an annual gathering to study God’s Word and pray for the persecuted and the lost. This year’s topic is “Prayer, Fasting, and the Pursuit of God.” It will be held Friday, April 26th, @ 6:00 PM and normally goes for about 6 hours (4 hours of study + 2 hours of prayer). It’s a bit of a time commitment, but even if you can’t stick around for the whole thing, it’s still encouraged for you to join. It’ll be a rich time of studying God’s Word in the context of seeing the glory of Christ multiplied to the ends of the earth.

If you’re interested in watching the live simulcast, please contact internationalmissions at immanuel dash baptist dot net or talk to Jaden before April 15th. The cost will be $10/person which pays for the simulcast and the corresponding study guide. The number of people who respond will determine where we it will be hosted.

PRELUDE – “Good Good Father” by Chris Tomlin

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Ephesians 1:3-6

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who has blessed us in Christ

with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world,

that we should be holy and blameless before him.

In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ,

according to the purpose of his will,

to the praise of his glorious grace,

with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

Song –

Come Praise and Glorify” by Bob Kauflin and Tim Chester

CONFESSION OF SIN

Song –

Have Mercy on Me” by Dale Bischof and Pat Sczebel

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Matthew 3:17

This is my beloved Son,

with whom I am well pleased.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – from the Belgic Confession, Articles 20-21

LEADER:

What do you believe about the work of God?

EVERYONE:

We believe that God –

who is perfectly merciful and also very just –

sent his Son to assume the nature

in which the disobedience had been committed,

in order to bear in it the punishment of sin

by his most bitter passion and death.

LEADER:

And what do you believe about the work of Jesus Christ?

EVERYONE:

We believe that Jesus Christ presented himself

in our name before his Father,

to appease his wrath

with full satisfaction

by offering himself on the tree of the cross

and pouring out his precious blood

for the cleansing of our sins,

as the prophets had predicted.

LEADER:

Why did he endure all this?

EVERYONE:

He endured all this

for the forgiveness of our sins.

LEADER:

What comfort does this give you?

EVERYONE:

We find all comforts in his wounds

and have no need to seek or invent any other means

to reconcile ourselves with God

than this one and only sacrifice,

once made,

which renders believers perfect forever.

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 148

Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord from the heavens;

praise him in the heights!

Praise him, all his angels;

praise him, all his hosts!

Praise him, sun and moon,

praise him, all you shining stars!

Praise him, you highest heavens,

and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord!

For he commanded and they were created.

And he established them forever and ever;

he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,

you great sea creatures and all deeps,

fire and hail, snow and mist,

stormy wind fulfilling his word!

Mountains and all hills,

fruit trees and all cedars!

Beasts and all livestock,

creeping things and flying birds!

Kings of the earth and all peoples,

princes and all rulers of the earth!

Young men and maidens together,

old men and children!

Let them praise the name of the Lord,

for his name alone is exalted;

his majesty is above earth and heaven.

He has raised up a horn for his people,

praise for all his saints,

for the people of Israel who are near to him.

Praise the Lord!

No Other Name” by Doug Engquist, Freddy Rodriguez, and Laurie Engquist

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Hebrews 12:18-29

For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them. For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.” But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven. At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken – that is, things that have been made – in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

Song –

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” by Joachim Neander

CONFESSION OF SIN – Psalm 25:11

EVERYONE:

For your name’s sake, O Lord,

pardon my guilt, for it is great.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Micah 7:18-19 (NIV)

Who is a God like you,

who pardons sin and forgives the transgression

of the remnant of his inheritance?

You do not stay angry forever

but delight to show mercy.

You will again have compassion on us;

you will tread our sins underfoot

and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
