PRELUDE – “Oh Love that Will Not Let Me Go” (Robbie Seay Band Version) by Albert Lister Peace George Matheson, Robbie Seay, and Taylor Johnson
WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 118:1-4
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Let Israel say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”
Let’s stand and declare the steadfast love of our Lord.

CONFESSION OF SIN – Deuteronomy 8:11-20
“Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock, who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end. Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. And if you forget the Lord your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish. Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.
In light of the ways we have forgotten God’s blessings
and have been unfaithful to keeping his law,
let’s take a moment to quietly humble our hearts
and repent for our unfaithfulness.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – 1 John 1:5-9
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness,
we lie and do not practice the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH-
XIX. The Family
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 113:1-6
Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!
The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens!
Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?

CONFESSION OF SIN – Romans 1:21-23
For although they knew God,
they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him,
but they became futile in their thinking,
and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
and exchanged the glory of the immortal God
for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
In spite of our songs of praise, Christians too often are drawn to praise the things of this world rather than the creator who gave us these good gifts. Let’s take a moment and repent of our foolish fixation on the things of this world and focus our thoughts and heart on the most high God.

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 100:1-5
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

CONFESSION OF SIN –
Let’s read and pray this confession of sin aloud together.
Lord Jesus,
I have sinned times without number,
and been guilty of pride and unbelief,
and of neglect to seek you in my daily life.
My sins and shortcomings present me with a list of accusations,
but I thank you that they will not stand against me,
for all have been laid on Christ.
Deliver me from every evil habit,
every interest of former sins,
everything that dims the brightness of your grace in me,
everything that prevents me taking delight in you.
Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON – 1 John 4:9-10
In this the love of God was made manifest among us,
that God sent his only Son into the world,
so that we might live through him.
In this is love, not that we have loved God
but that he loved us
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

CONFESSION OF SIN – Question 17 New City Catechism
“From the New City Catechism. Please by reading aloud the bolded answer to the catechism question.”
Q. What Is Idolatry?
A. Idolatry is trusting in created things rather than the Creator
for our hope and happiness, significance and security.
“In spite of our confession of faith, too often we Christians are guilty of turning towards money, sex, or power for our source of comfort, stability, and hope. Let’s take a moment to repent of our idolatry and ask the Lord to forgive us and remind us that He alone is our only source of comfort and hope.“

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Titus 3:4-7
Hear this Assurance of Pardon from Titus 3:4-7
But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,
he saved us,
not because of works done by us in righteousness,
but according to his own mercy,
by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs
according to the hope of eternal life.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH—Nicene Creed
[Read Together]
We believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
God from God,
Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made;
of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and was made human.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory
to judge the living and the dead.
His kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come.
Amen.
