CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 33:1-4

Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous!

    Praise befits the upright.

Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;

    make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!

Sing to him a new song;

    play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

For the word of the Lord is upright,

    and all his work is done in faithfulness.

Let’s stand and praise our God for the Lord is upright and faithful!

CONFESSION OF SIN – Psalm 14:1-3

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

    They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;

    there is none who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man,

    to see if there are any who understand,

    who seek after God.

They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;

    there is none who does good,

    not even one.

God is worthy of all of our adoration and honor.

But often God’s people tend to act rather foolishly in this life.

Rather than live our lives before his presence at all times and in all places,

Often we tend to act as if God does not exist and his rules don’t really matter.

Let’s take a moment of silence now to pray to the Lord

and repent of the ways we have foolishly neglected his presence and rejected his rule.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Ephesians 2:12-13

The apostle Paul assures the people of God in Ephesians 2:12-13 when he states:

(R)emember that you were at that time separated from Christ,

alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise,

having no hope and without God in the world.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off

have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

No matter how far we may be from the Lord this morning, the Lord promises to draw near to all who turn from their sin and trust in Christ for their salvation.

SCRIPTURE READING – (Adda) Psalms 92 Instruct the Congregation to Stand. End with “This is the Word of the Lord.”

(congregation stands)

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,

    to sing praises to your name, O Most High;

to declare your steadfast love in the morning,

    and your faithfulness by night,

to the music of the lute and the harp,

    to the melody of the lyre.

For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;

    at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

How great are your works, O Lord!

    Your thoughts are very deep!

The stupid man cannot know;

    the fool cannot understand this:

that though the wicked sprout like grass

    and all evildoers flourish,

they are doomed to destruction forever;

    but you, O Lord, are on high forever.

For behold, your enemies, O Lord,

    for behold, your enemies shall perish;

    all evildoers shall be scattered.

But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox;

    you have poured over me fresh oil.

My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;

    my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

The righteous flourish like the palm tree

    and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

They are planted in the house of the Lord;

    they flourish in the courts of our God.

They still bear fruit in old age;

    they are ever full of sap and green,

to declare that the Lord is upright;

    he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
