This Sunday is the third Sunday of August! And that means Table Talktime.

This month’s topic is:

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Here’s a video on the topic to help get the conversation started:http://youtu.be/-yB__3_Fhq0

Right after the regular Sunday service. Food is provided. RSVP to Phil Ennis so we’ll be sure to have enough.

If you would like to help the Johnson family as they were recently admitted for pre-term labor, please contact the Avinks. THANKS!

This weekend IBC is planning on a weekend together at Streator Baptist Camp! So…

  • We’re having our Sunday service at Streator—so don’t come to The Meeting Place; come to the camp if you can, even if it’s just for Sunday.
  • Prayer meeting is cancelled—but be in prayer that our time together will serve to strengthen our faith in Christ.

As we have mentioned, we will be having Dane Ortlund speaking on his recent book Defiant Grace: The Surprising Message and Mission of Jesus.  Dane serves as Senior Editor in the Bible Division at Crossway Books in Wheaton, Illinois. He is the author of A New Inner Relish: Christian Motivation in the Thought of Jonathan Edwards and is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary (M.Div., Th.M.) and Wheaton College (B.A., Ph.D.). Dane is married, has three boys, and lives in Wheaton.  You can follow him on Twitter @daneortlund.

If you’ve never been to an Immanuel Summer Retreat before, you’ve got to go watch this promo video for the camp where it’s held!  The video shows what the facilities are like and also showcases our church – http://youtu.be/4fsQvEcwxYQ

This coming Saturday in Wheaton, IL. Braden Koenigsberg is having a pottery and woodturning sale open to the public. Anyone interested is welcome to drop by even just for a visit. It should be running from 10:00 AM till 4:00 PM.

For more info email info at immanuel-baptist.net

Just to make sure you’re aware: The Gay Pride Parade is scheduled for this Sunday at noon. So this note is particularly relevant for post-gathering drivers, but we should probably still anticipate some pre-gathering traffic congestion.

This is especially noteworthy for those driving from and to Northern neighborhoods. See the map at this link for details.

Our beloved Sheltons are moving on to God’s next step for them – in Texas!  We’re going to say goodbye with a grill out in Arrigo Park on Sunday, June 17 (also Fathers’ Day!) at 4:30.  Bring a blanket and a Frisbee and play for a while or just stop by.

Look for an evite to RSVP, or just email Lindsey, and let her know if you’d like to help with food.
