It’s a white, cold, January day now, but imagine a warm summer evening with golden beams floating through branches of a Wisconsin forest… bunk beds, campfires, deep blue with white crested waves lapping lazily against a beach, hanging with fellow believers in your church, being encouraged and challenged spiritually…

Mark your calendars for the 2016 Summer Retreat at Lake Geneva Conference Center on August 19-21!

That was a great weekend! Thanks again to all who came out to the Summer Retreat (over 90 people!) and all who helped make it happen.

Share your photos from the weekend on Facebook and be sure to tag Immanuel Baptist Church and/or use the hashtag #ibcsr2015.

Resources from the Retreat including recordings of sessions should be available soon.

And while it’s all still fresh on your mind could you email info at immanuel dash baptist dot net with answers to this short survey?

(1) What are your top two highlights of the weekend?

(2) Were there any aspects of the retreat that were negative for you? Do you have any suggestions for improvement?

(3) Was the theme – the 7 Deadly Sins – helpful for you? Any particular encouragement that can be passed on to one of the speakers?

(4) What did you think of the Lake Geneva Conference Center facilities, food, and environment? Would you like to go back there again next year?

(5) Anything else that would be helpful to share?

PRELUDE

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 99

The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble;

he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.

Great is the LORD in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.

Let them praise your great and awesome name – he is holy.

The King is mighty, he loves justice – you have established equity

in Jacob you have done what is just and right.

Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.

Moses and Aaron were among his priests,

Samuel was among those who called on his name;

they called on the LORD and he answered them.

He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud;

they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.

O LORD our God, you answered them;

you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.

Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain,

for the LORD our God is holy.

Songs –

Holy, Holy, Holy” by John Bacchus Dykes and Reginald Heber

CONFESSION OF SIN – Psalm 32:3-5

When I kept silent,

my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;

my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD” – and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Psalm 32:1-2

Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven,

whose sins are covered.

Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him

and in whose spirit is no deceit.

Songs –

Not in Me” by David L. Ward and Eric Shumacher

In Christ Alone” by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

PRAYER

CHILDREN’S BLESSING & DISMISSAL – New City Catechism Q 48

What is the church?

A community elected for eternal life

and united by faith,

who love, follow, learn from, and worship God together.

Song –

O Great God” by Bob Kauflin

SCRIPTURE READING – Acts 4:36 – 5:11

SERMON – “Coming Out As A Sinner”

Song –

Come Ye Sinners Poor and Needy” by Fernando Ortega, John Andrew Schreiner, and Joseph Hart

LORD’S TABLE

Song –

The Power of Cross” by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

The Summer Retreat is less than 3 weeks away. The suggested donation to help cover the cost this year at the Lake Geneva Conference Center is as follows per person:

Adults: $110

Children (ages 5 and up) $60

Children: (under 5) $0

Money should not prohibit anyone from coming, however. Give what you can.

We are excited about the Retreat and the sessions that we will have together. Along with that there are many activities outside of the sessions that will take up the 3 hours of free time that is available in the afternoon.

The list below shows all the free activities that one can participate in throughout the day. As well, there are many paid activities below that are not included in the cost of the retreat through IBC. If you would like to participate in any of these paid activities please get a group of people together that fits the minimum requirements. I need to know (1) what activity you would like to do, and (2) who is doing it with you. This must be completed by Monday July 20th. If you end up adding on any paid activities please add this on to your suggested donation to help cover the cost for IBC.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
