CONFESSION OF SIN – Book of Common Prayer 1552 (

As we gather together to worship the Lord this Sunday, 

Let’s also take a moment in our service now to confess our sins to the Lord,

And humbly ask again for his forgiveness and mercy. Please pray with me this Confession of Sin from the Book of Common Prayer aloud:

Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 

Maker of all things, Judge of all men, 

we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, 

which we from time to time most grievously have committed, 

by thought, word, and deed, against your divine Majesty, 

provoking most justly your wrath and indignation against us. 

We earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings. 

The remembrance of them is grievous to us, the burden of them is intolerable. 

Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father, 

for your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake. 

Forgive us all that is past, 

and grant that we may ever from now on serve and please you in newness of life, 

to the honor and glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Romans 5:1-2

After confessing our sins to the Lord,

God’s people can now receive by faith this Good News of Christ Jesus,

Which God declares to us in Romans 5:1-2:

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Let’s continue to sing, 

For through faith in Christ, 

God’s people now have peace with him!
