“Let Your Heart Sing” by Young Oceans

CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 29:1-2

(congregation stands)

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,

ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

Let’s stand and sing as we ascribe to the Lord the splendor of his holiness!

CONFESSION OF SIN – Isaiah 66:1-2

The Lord states in Isaiah 66:1-2

“Heaven is my throne,

    and the earth is my footstool;

what is the house that you would build for me,

and what is the place of my rest?

All these things my hand has made,

and so all these things came to be,

declares the Lord.

But this is the one to whom I will look:

he who is humble and contrite in spirit

    and trembles at my word.

Although in our sin none of us deserve to stand before the presence of our high and holy God,

The Lord himself promises to mercifully receive

all those who humbly repent and return to his word.

Let’s take a moment to pray right now and humbly return to the Lord our God.

(moment of silence)

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you,

that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness,

we lie and do not practice the truth.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,

we have fellowship with one another,

and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,

and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Let’s continue to sing for the blood of Christ is still able to bring sinners like us

into the loving fellowship of a Holy God!

SCRIPTURE READING – Joshua 5:13-15

(congregation stands)

When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” And the commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
